Abstract
The design and validation of Intelligent Wireless Sensor based Bomb Detection System (IWSBDS) is described in
this paper. The IWSBDS can detect constituents of Improvised Explosive Device (IED), transmit the detected
packet via on-line features and systematically evacuate the bearer via a hidden trap sink. The IWSBDS is made up
of the data capturing with its transmission unit; the signal processing; and the remote output terminal. Each of
the modules are internally wired, while the interconnectivity between the modules was achieved wirelessly via the
radio frequency (RF) medium. Hence, sensors’ cluster with wireless transceiver unit (WTU) transmits generated
packet to the master linked to the control console with update reports. Federal University of Technology
landmass was used as the deployment domain. IWSBDS end product functions efficiently for bomb mixture
detection in real transmission time of 25s. LM 324, IC CS209, Atmel 89C52 and GSM module (SIM900) were
used as major components.
